In This Moment

Being present is the hardest thing. Society asks us to plan for the future and to study history to remember where we came from, they also want us to be greater than our forefathers and yet leave the past behind. In this tug of war we forget days, friends, people; lie, steal and step on and over our fellow brother for that promise of a better life.
Yesterday, a lady walking with a cane, fell in the parking lot, immediately a young man rushed to assist her. When he couldn’t do it on his own I also helped and then a third bystander got her cane for her. It made me wonder, what made us go to her when others walked by and were I down who would be present and aware to help me up? And would I let them?
